This Picture Jasper has been shaped and polished to enhance its appearance. The stone is 30 x 40mm (1 ½” x 1 1/16”) oval. It has been set in a 2” x 1 ½” gold colored bezel on a black/gold western style oval belt buckle. The bezel is removable which allows one to interchange stones. Jasper is an opaque variety of quartz. Its rustic appearance of banding and veining was created when silicate mud seeped into pockets in earliest volcanic rock. Large deposits of Picture Jasper has been located in Africa and Brazil.
